Hrboki – „Walk and taste“ walking path

Hiking along a wooded path conducted by expert guidance, sightseeing of natural attractions and with an indispensable tasting of local specialties. The route is intended for all lovers of nature, culture, healthy lifestyles and active rest.


Barban – The Ring Race (Trka na prstenac)

The Ring Race is a knightly game that takes place on the third weekend in August in Barban, which in recent years has become a trademark of the place, and one of the most famous summer events in Istria. You must visit an extra virgin olive oil tasting room, enter the "kazun" - a traditional Istrian stone shelter that can be found in fields throughout Istria, go for horseback riding through a picturesque landscape intertwined with vineyards, forests, and fields, and finish the day enjoying famous Istrian wines teran and malvasia.


Boljun – A hilltop ancient town in northeastern Istria

Still well preserved 15th-century medieval castle, with a wide view of the fertile valley and the Ucka mountain range, "neither town nor village", Boljun lost its meaning and life is almost stalling, but the town does not perish but still pleasantly surprises every visitor with its vistas offering its guests everything they need: comfortable accommodation, unspoiled nature, peace and of course, specific local specialties in the local tavern.


Vela Draga – The monument of exceptional geomorphologic spot

Educational trail in the namesake canyon in limestone rocks created by water torrents. Although the trail is well marked, you will "lose contact" with the real world in this museum of nature.


Hahlići – The Coastal Alps

The area of Hahlići or the Coastal Alps consists of 15 peaks over 1000 meters high, each with a characteristic image. This fairyland, besides them, is adorned with meadows, forests, rocks, deep canyon, puddles ... The center of this wonderful oasis for every mountaineer is a cute mountain hut Hahlic. Enjoying the view of the sea and the islands, you will be pleased to be joined by permanent residents of this area, wild horses and deer in the distance.


Gostiona putniku - Probably the most popular tavern on Croatian highways

Although the parking in front of the restaurant is constantly crowded, you will always find one free table. The interior exudes the spirit of domestic TV series and films of the '70s and '80s. As you listen to the old ever-famous evergreens, the kitchen delivers huge portions of home-cooked food at a fair price.


Lokvarsko jezero – Mountain paradise

This green-blue man-made lake blends in with the natural surroundings of beautiful mountain conifers. Whether you are a fan of fishing, swimming or sporting activities such as hiking and biking or canoeing, this is the right place for you. Trails around the lake, forest park, cave, and homemade cuisine are the gems of this highland ideal for a break from the summer heat.


Kupa River – Mysterious piece of karst

Kupa River and its tributaries are the Eldorado for fly fishing enthusiasts, hikers, and hikers. A monument of nature, the Kupa River Spring, one of the strongest and deepest Croatian springs has formed a turquoise lake that will enchant you with its appearance. Vagabund cottage - A place where it's worth stopping but also staying for a while

If you want to swap the heat of the coast for the freshness of the mountain, the noise of the engine for the whisper of the forest, the neon light for the candlelight, the coolness of the air-conditioning for the heat of the fireplace - come and visit Vagabund's cottage. The proximity of the sea and high mountain hinterland make this area particularly enjoyable during summer months. Whether you want to walk the mountain trails, enjoy unforgettable vistas, ride bikes, pick seasonal wild herbs, try old-fashioned dishes, we recommend spending the night there.


Breze – Wide meadows and a big sky

Take a stroll through the vast meadows that offer magnificent views of the surrounding mountains, sea and islands. Approach the wild horses or just sit down to follow the buzzard circling high in the sky. Descend through the birch forest, after which a small place nestled around an ancient sawmill is named Birch. If you come during weekdays, you can talk to the guys and freshen up at the only inn there.


Tribalj and Bribir – Prince's residences grew on karst

The small lake gives a special charm to this peaceful little town just a few kilometers from the coast. Stay in beautifully decorated stone houses decorated in an indigenous coastal style and comfortable guest house by the river. Stop by nearby Grizane and Bribir, small towns grew on karst, once the residence of wealthy princes. If you come in May, you can taste the famous cherries, although you can always taste the famous local white wine "zlahtina".


Selce and Novi Vinodolski - Seven Mediterranean-scented trails

Just try to imagine what the trails that called these names look like: The Wave Trail, The Karst and Sage Trail, The Cliff Trail, The Green Trail, The Celestial Trail, The Romans Trail, and The Degenius Trail! There is no doubt that these seven trails and promenades will give you extraordinary vistas and a special atmosphere during recreation. Trails run along the coast, pine trees right next to the shore or green hinterland through fragrant and eye-pleasing forests, fields, mountain peaks, cliffs, and ridges. If you want to freshen up, just descent a few steps and jump into the sea that will be near you all the time.


Mrkopalj – Where the fresh air, greenery and kind people will remain forever remembered

Although Mrkopalj is rightly known for the Croatian cradle of skiing the beautiful scenery is a summer paradise for recreationists, athletes, as well as lovers of untouched nature. True unusual stories like the one about Fajer, the stone steep viaduct, a symbol of an unprecedented and unsuccessful architectural solution or the tragic death of 26 partisans who froze during the march in World War II are only a few of numerous unique stories and legends you can hear. Nearby is the White and Samara Rock Strict Nature Reserve, a hikers' mecca, where nature has so imaginatively played a role in creating snow-white stone forms, so we can find shapes like doors, cliffs, domes, coffins, obelisks, cones, etc., and cracks in which there is snow that has remained there for years. It is a perfect haven for brown bears and numerous other wildlife. You can't leave without trying the beef stomach specialty (not what you think it is!) and a fab blueberry strudel.


Otočac – A pastoral landscape with a crystal clear river

The Gacka Valley offers countless opportunities to explore and discover its mysterious beauty. You should visit the springs of the Gacka River and visit the famous mills. If you love fishing, then this is a special destination for you. Walk, kayak, bike or just find your daydream spot for a river that flows. It’s not a local dish, but they say you’ll have a hard time finding such a good pizza.


Krasno – Stay in touch with nature

According to one theory, a small town situated at the foot of the magnificent Velebit mountain, is named after its beauty, in Croatian „krasno“ is beautiful, while another says that it is because of its location in the middle of the karst. The main office of the Northern Velebit National Park, two sawmills, a forestry office, a cheese dairy and that it is one of the most famous Marian pilgrimage sites are the things that describe this picturesque village best. There are no words that could describe Velebit, a mountain paradise for all ages and skill levels - it should be experienced!


Rijeka Lika – Forgotten beauty

Take a peek into the Grabovača Cave Park, an invaluable wealth of underground karst forms, which make up 1/4 of the total number of protected speleological sites in Croatia. Majstorska cesta – North and South, merged with forty miles of history

A beautiful forgotten road connecting the south and north of Croatia attracts every cyclist, motorcyclist, and lover of unprecedented beauty. Besides so many beauties, it is full of interesting stories. In the first half of the 19th century, it was the most modern road of that time in this part of Europe. The surrounding mountainous area served as the backdrop for the cult western movie about the Indian chief. The gaze is breathless in any direction, especially to magnificent Tulove beams rocks. Various folk traditions are connected to these rocks, dragons lay there, and invisible villas of Velebit lived in them.


Kudin most – Story of love in a hidden spectacular canyon

Only a few come here, but those who have come to stay out of breath. A protected cultural monument, a magnificent canyon deep cut in a difficult walkable area hides an incredibly beautiful river bridged by a romantic bridge that blends with nature. According to the legend, the young man made the whole venture and built a bridge of drywall, blocks, and columns, to reach the other side of the river, to his girlfriend, whom he loved.


Vransko jezero - Bird's paradise near the seashore

Just a few hundred meters away from the Adriatic coast, lies the largest natural lake in Croatia, pristine natural habitats of more than 250 waterbird species, of which more than 100 nests in the Park. Grass, reed, and shallow ponds, covered with permanent flowers with lush colors and a multitude of butterflies, dragonflies and other diverse insects benefit the life of birds throughout the year. Best explored by bicycle along the trails around the lake with many vantage points and irresistible aromatic scents of wild plants, particularly enticing scent of sage, combined with the freshness of pine trees right by the lake, this oasis provides a special experience.


Maskovica han – Mansion of the Sultan's high dignitary

Having dinner at a restaurant, a former mosque, and spending the night in an Ottoman palace will be enough for an unforgettable experience. If you get lucky you will be able to enjoy a concert or some other event under the open sky inside the medieval walls.


Vrlika – Richness of life in an inhospitable neighborhood

This small town surrounded by mountains and the lake offers much more than one expected. The ruins of one of the best-preserved monuments of early medieval sacral architecture in Croatia that will take you back to the 9th century. Nature lovers will be amazed by the astonishing source, a blue abyss of Cetina River. Those more experienced must at least step into the impressive massif of the monumental Dinara mountain. There is no excuse not to taste the authentic widely recognized Dalmatian prosciutto, cultivated by dry, cold and strong north-west wind "bura", salt, and herbs and produced according to the traditional recipe. If you come across a folk group in colorful costumes dancing without music, do not be surprised - it is a circle silent, originally a mute dance, protected on UNESCO's list of intangible heritage.


Cikola River Canyon – self-effacing river in a harsh canyon

Water carved out an extraordinary geomorphological and hydrological phenomenon in the karst, one of the most imposing canyons in Croatia. Extreme harshness, emphasized by imposing gorges, and impassable canyon seem very inhospitable. Though, it is at the same time extremely attractive canyon, up to 130 m deep, through which the fast karst river flows in winter and is almost completely dry in summer, which offers numerous opportunities for hiking, free climbing, and canyoning. With its completely dry riverbed in summer, it is impressive too. So if you are just a little bit nimble you can take a walk along the river bed full of larger and smaller light stones of rounded shapes and scattered driftwood created by the action of the river.


Burnum – So recognizable stone arches looking unreal

No, that's not a sign of a 1st century McDonald's! It was a Roman army camp, during the reign of Emperor Claudius, expanded and refined during the reign of Emperor Vespasian, who was famous for building the famous Roman Colosseum. That is why there is also an amphitheater for 6000 spectators, which makes it clear that this was an important military center in Roman times.
